To Interested Applicants:

Applications are available during regular business hours at 5842 Hwy. 41, Ringgold, Georgia.  If you are not a Georgia Certified Peace Officer, it is recommended that you submit your application for a Detention Officer or Communication Officer.  It is the practice of the Sheriff's Office to promote from within.  Each year qualified applicants are selected to attend the Georgia Police Academy for peace officer certification.  Although we promote from within, this Agency will consider outside applications for patrol and detective positions depending on experience and certification.  Individuals certified by Federal and other state agencies, do not automatically transfer to a Georgia certification.

After your application is received, you will be scheduled for a pre-employment examination, polygraph, drug screening, and background investigation on an as needed basis.  Your application will remain on file and you will be eligible for possible employment for one year.

The starting salaries are as follows:

    Detention Officer                $22,000        ($23,000 after 6 months probation)
    Communications Officer      $23,000        ($24,000 after 6 months probation)
    Patrol Officer                      $27,000        ($28,000 after 6 months probation)
